Extending The Methodology Of X-ray Crystallography To Allow X-ray Microscopy Without X-ray Optics
We demonstrate that the soft X-ray diffraction pattern from a micron-size noncrystalline specimen can be recorded and inverted to form a high-resolution image. The phase problem is overcome by oversampling the diffraction pattern. The image is obtained using an iterative algorithm. The technique provides a method for X-ray microscopy requiring no highresolution X-ray optical elements or detecto...
متن کاملThe X-ray Transform and its Application in Nano Crystallography
In this article a review on the definition of the X- ray transform and some ofits applications in Nano crystallography is presented. We shall show that the X- raytransform is a special case of the Radon transform on homogeneous spaces when thetopological group E(n)- the Euclidean group - acts on ℝ2 transitively. First someproperties of the Radon transform are investigated then the relationship ...
متن کاملReview x Ray crystallography
x Ray crystallography is currently the most favoured technique for structure determination of proteins and biological macromolecules. Increasingly, those interested in all branches of the biological sciences require structural information to shed light on previously unanswered questions. Furthermore, the availability of a protein structure can provide a more detailed focus for future research. ...
متن کاملX-ray radiation effects in multilayer epitaxial graphene
We characterize multilayer graphene grown on C-face SiC before and after exposure to a total ionizing dose (TID) of 12 Mrad(SiO2) using a 10 keV X-ray source. While we observe the partial peeling of the top graphene layer and the appearance of a modest Raman D-peak, we find that the electrical characteristics (mobility, sheet resistivity, free carrier concentration) of the material are mostly u...
متن کاملProtein crystallization for X-ray crystallography.
Using the three-dimensional structure of biological macromolecules to infer how they function is one of the most important fields of modern biology. The availability of atomic resolution structures provides a deep and unique understanding of protein function, and helps to unravel the inner workings of the living cell. To date, 86% of the Protein Data Bank (rcsb-PDB) entries are macromolecular s...
